Overview

The PMP9416 reference design is a single output non-isolated buck power supply for PoE applications. It accepts a 48V nominal input and provides a 5V 1A output. The input can be varied from 33V to 57V. The design features the LM5160 synchronous buck converter with the benefit of diode emulated mode which can improve the light load efficiency as compared to FPWM (forced pulse width modulation) mode. The LM5160’s integrated MOSFETs and constant on time control minimize the external component count and enables a small power dense layout.
