Description

This automotive reference design was created to be connected to a head unit through a 1-3m cable and support two USB Power Delivery Type-C™ ports with a combined power of 60 W. USB power delivery can be costly and time consuming to design, but customers can accelerate their media port systems by taking advantage of a complete reference design targeting an aftermarket media hub. This design helps minimize design efforts by providing an integrated solution focused for automotive systems.

  • BQ25703A and BQ25700A buck-boosts optimize the power supply by utilizing I2C control for Power Delivery voltage scaling
  • Small solution size based on typical media interface board dimensions of 3.15 in x 1.4 in
  • Wide input voltage clamp handles 5-36 V with 42 V max
  • TPS25740B compatible with USB PD 2.0 and 3.0 with voltages of 5 V, 9 V, 12 V, and 15 V or 5 V, 9 V, 15 V and 20 V through pin selectable options
  • TPD6S300 offers short-to-Vbus overvoltage ESD protection on CC and D+/D- lines
  • TS3USB221A-Q1 multiplexer combines D+/D- data signals from either port and pass through to a head unit
