Overview

Flash tools for the C2000™real-time TMS320LF240x microcontrollers
Features
GUI CCStudio Plugin

The JTAG based Flash plug-ins will enable you to reprogram the on-chip Flash of the Digital Signal Controller within the Code Composer Studio environment. Be sure you choose the one that is appropriate for your version of CCS. It may also be possible to download the updates through the Update Advisor feature inside of CCS.

GUI SDFlash

SDFlash is a stand-alone JTAG based GUI interface maintained by Spectrum Digital. It does not require Code Composer Studio but it does require CCS drivers (included in the download). SDFlash is packed in an "Emulation Drivers" download that includes other drivers and utilities that are not necessarily required for flash programming but are commonly needed for eZdsp hardware support. The SDFlash GUI requires DEVICE SPECIFIC algorithms for flash programming. These algorithms must be downloaded separately from Spectrum Digital's website and placed in the sdflash\myprojects directory. In some cases a newer version of SDFlash may be available for certain devices. If a new version is necessary it will noted under the description for the SDFlash Algorithms.

**You should not run SDFlash and Code Composer Studio at the same time**

JTAG DOS Command Line

The DOS Command Line Utility (prg2xx.exe) is a JTAG based flash programmer maintained by Spectrum Digital. The utility also requires DEVICE SPECIFIC algorithms for flash programming. The most recent algorithms for F240/F241/F243 are included with the DOS Command Line Utility download. For LF240x devices older versions are still included in the DOS Command Line Utility, so a newer version must be downloaded separately from Spectrum Digital’s website. Because the DOS Command Line utility is not being updated (e.g., it did not receive recent error checking updates like SDFlash), TI recommends that customers use the other tools when possible.

Serial Port Programmer

For C24x Devices: This is a serial port (SCI – RS232) based flash programming utility authored by TI. It works with Windows 95 and 98 operating systems only. Not recommended for production use.

Custom Solution:API

The API (application program interface) consists of TI supplied Flash programming algorithms with a well defined and easy to use interface. It allows customers to create their own customized embedded flash programming solution. This can enable field re-programming for firmware updates or calibration data storage. You can also use this to create your own stand-alone programming solution by writing a driver that communicates with the algorithms through other communication ports.
