The SD387EVK is an evaluation kit designed to demonstrate the performance and capabilities of the LMH0387 3 Gbps HD/SD SDI Configurable I/O Adaptive Cable Equalizer / Cable Driver.
The SD387EVK has two primary modes of operation. In the input mode, the board accepts 75Ω input at the BNC conforming to the SMPTE 424M, SMPTE 292M, or SMPTE 259M standards. The LMH0387 will restore the input signal after it has been attenuated by coaxial cable, and provide a differential output via two 50Ω SMA connectors. In the output mode, the board accepts differential input via two 50Ω SMA connectors and drives 75Ω coaxial cable via the BNC. Jumpers on the board can be configured for evaluation of LMH0387 features such as the equalizer carrier detect, cable driver SD/HD, and cable driver TX_EN.
The SD387EVK includes a USB interface to connect to a host PC. The Analog LaunchPAD (ALP) software application allows managing the SPI registers of the LMH0387 equalizer. It provides easy control and monitoring of equalizer features such as: output swing and offset adjustment, input launch level optimization, sleep mode, mute, extended 3G reach mode, and cable length indicator. The software also allows control of the LMH0387’s I/O mode.
