Description

This TI Design provides a solution for input power path protection and backup supply design in a typical PLC controller unit. It replaces traditionally used discrete-circuit implementations with fully integrated protection circuits.

Features
  • 19.2-V to 28.8-V input, 28-W output power
  • Overload, overvoltage, undervoltage, and reverse-current protection
  • Protects from field miswiring or reverse polarity
  • ±500-V, 2-Ω (8/20-μs) surge compliance with Criteria A performance (IEC 61000-4-5)
  • 120-ms backup time at 7-W output
