Description
This design describes a low-cost, battery-operated heart-rate monitor solution based on the MSP430™ LaunchPad Value Line Development Kit (MSP-EXP430G2), which uses the MSP430G2xx microcontroller (MCU). A daughterboard amplifies and filters the electrocardiogram (EKG) signal before it is sent to the MCU for sampling and processing. The heartbeat-per-minute data is sent to the PC by means of the backchannel UART-over-USB available on the LaunchPad, or wirelessly using a 2.4GHz RF daughter card.
Features
- Ease of use booster pack design compatible with the MSP430 G2 Launchpad
- UART connectivity for wireless communication via eZ430-RF2500
- Battery-powered ultra-low power system consumes 2uA (typ) when in standby
- Integrated hand sensors on-PCB for low cost, compact sensing
- This reference design is tested and includes software, hardware design files, documentation & PC GUI
