Bluetooth 5 support
The CC2640R2F wireless microcontroller supports all the features of Bluetooth 4.2 and is the industry’s first qualified Bluetooth 5 solution. This device has a software configurable radio capable of the new data rates and long range Coded PHYs. TI’s Bluetooth 5 SDK is now released for high speed mode. Get ready to innovate with higher speeds, longer range, and increased broadcasting capacity.
Simple network processor or SoC
The CC2640 and CC2640R2F are flexible to meet the needs of any design with the simple network processor and standalone wireless microcontroller options. The simple network processor mode makes it easy to add Bluetooth low energy to an existing MCU based system with TI’s sample application and driver source code included in the Software Development Kit.
Leverage the ability of TI’s royalty free Bluetooth low energy software stack to manage multiple connections using multi-role. This feature enables the CC2640 / CC2640R2F to simultaneously act in the central and peripheral role and can be used to design highly flexible advanced applications.
Flexible RF frontend
The CC2640 and CC2640R2F support multiple RF frontend options to optimize performance or cost. Leverage this flexibility to reduce the overall number of components in your system or maximize the device’s sensitivity and output power for the longest range. Reference designs are available for multiple RF frontend options to aid in decoupling and RF layout. See the description codes below to help select a reference design.
Sensor Controller Engine
Lower system power by utilizing the unique Sensor Controller Engine that is integrated in the CC2640 and CC2540R2F wireless MCUs. This is an autonomous system that can operate while the rest of the chip is in sleep mode to extend the battery life of your design. Learn how to implement this functionality with the SimpleLink academy training module called Sensor Controller Studio.
Leverage Bluetooth® 4.2 Core Specification to enable enriched privacy and secure pairing on the CC2640 and CC2640R2F wireless MCUs. These improvements are beneficial in health, medical, automotive, home and building automation applications. To implement these upgrades download the latest BLE-Stack.
