Remote keyless entry (RKE) key fob & passive entry passive start (PEPS) key fob

SimpleLink Bluetooth Low Energy SoCs have a software-configurable modem that supports localization techniques based on received signal strength indicator (RSSI) and Angle-of-Arrival (AoA), ultimately enabling a vehicle to know the location of a key fob or a smart phone with respect to the vehicle.

Body control module (BCM) & automotive gateway

The Bluetooth Low Energy central node for a car access sub-system is part of the body control module or the gateway module. This central node connects to the main processor reporting localization data through LIN or CAN. The data is fused at the main application processor in order to estimate the position of a key fob or mobile device.
