The 5th European DSP in Education and Research Conference EDERC2012 will be held in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on the 13th and 14th September, 2012. Over the past 8 years, successful EDERS took place in Birmingham (UK), Munich (Germany), Tel-Aviv (Israel) and EDERC in Nice (France).
As a two day event, the conference provides extra time for workshops and special sessions. The technical scope has also widened to allow papers using any of TI's Embedded Processors (C6000, C5000, C2000, MSP430, OMAP, ARM9, Cortex A8, Cortex M3 and Cortex M4).
The event aims to gather DSP Educators, Researchers, and Third-Party Developers from around the world to share their experiences in the use of Embedded Processing Technology. The conference will comprise oral & poster presentations as well as a small number of demos. We are delighted to announce that the keynote speakers for EDERC2012 will be Prof. Marc Moonen, and Fernando Mujica.

This workshop provides a hands-on practical start to the Texas Instruments MSP-EXP430F5529 Experimenter board and the eZ430-Chronos watch. It assumes that attenders have some basic knowledge of C programming.

Ralf Gessler - Stellaris Cortex-M3 Teaching ROM Workshop - 1st Edition 2012
This workshop will include several examples and demonstrations by the CD ROM author Ralf Gessler of Heilbronn University, Campus Künzelsau, Germany.
An introduction to TI’s new Stellaris Cortex-M3 Teaching ROM and how its’ modules can be used to setup microcontroller educational courses will be provided.
The workshop starts with an introduction illustrating the microcontroller features of the Stellaris family based on the evaluation kit EKS-LM3S1968.
Practical experiments demonstrating the connectivity features of Stellaris will be conducted as live demonstration with the evaluation kit EKS-LM3S9B92.
Jacob Fainguelernt – C6000 Teaching ROM Workshop
This workshop will introduce the use of the TI OMAP-L138 eXperimenter for hands-on DSP teaching, using its C6748 floating-point DSP core and Code Composer Studio and is taught by author and instructor Jacob Fainguelernt from Tel Aviv University.
The OMAP-L138/C6748 eXperimenter TMDSEXPL138-UNV is a low-cost development system utilizing TI's dual-core, ARM + DSP OMAP-L138 processor. The TI University Program is recommending this as the DSP development system that will be a successor to the C6713 DSK with increased performance and additional teaching options. Participants of the workshop will perform hands on lab exercises concentrating on programming the C6748 DSP core using Eclipse-based Code Composer Studio.
The workshop will demonstrate how hands-on, real-time experiments from the new and updated C6000 Teaching ROM may be carried out using the eXperimenter board. Hands-on DSP teaching using the OMAP-L138 eXperimenter may be used to introduce students to important DSP concepts, real-time programming issues/techniques, use of Code Composer Studio, embedded system concepts, and to the architecture and capabilities of TI's OMAP-L138 processor
