How To Enter

Step 1: Select Your Team and Project

Teams must have a minimum of two and a maximum of five members who are eighteen years or older. A team leader must be nominated.

Think carefully and strategically when selecting your team members. Consider the skills you will need in order to complete your project report. A list of key skills that we feel will benefit your team include:

  • Organisation
  • Analog Knowledge
  • Programming Knowledge
  • Confident Report Writing

When thinking about your project take note that submitted designs must incorporate minimum three different Texas Instruments integrated circuits (“ICs”): either 3 analog ICs, or 2 analog ICs and a TI processor. If you choose a TI processor, you can choose from MSP430, OMAP, Stellaris or DSP.

Please Note: One processor including 2 analog IC’s does not count towards three different ICs.

Analog ICs can be chosen from the following categories:

  • Amplifiers
  • Clocks and Timers
  • Comparators
  • Data Converters
  • Interface devices
  • Power Management devices
  • RF devices
  • Switches
  • Temperature sensors

Other ICs may be incorporated into the design, but only those ICs in the categories above will be counted toward the IC requirement during assessment.

A list of tools and ICs which were popular for previous student projects can be found here.

Step 2: Submit the Entry Form

Once you have agreed on team members, a team leader and a project; the team leader (on behalf of the team) must submit the entry form. Entry forms must be emailed to: adceurope@list.ti.com by 28th February.

Download your entry form here.

Step 3: Request Tools and ICs

On receipt of your confirmation email you are invited to request up to $100 worth of Tools and ICs from the European University Program.

A list of tools and ICs which are popular for student projects can be found found HERE

For more information on how to request your tools and ICs please download our guidelines here.

Tool requests must be submitted by the team leader to: adceurope@list.ti.com by 26th April.

Step 4: Complete Your Project

Once you have requested your tools and IC’s your team needs to move onto the practical part of the project. Planning is key to a successful project and we recommend the following steps:

  • Create a timetable for each step of your project and ensure to allocate enough time.
  • Agree on the scope of project and know who in your team will complete each task.
  • Begin early with your desk research
  • Move onto the simulation – look at the TI’s Design Centre
  • Build and test your design
  • Write your design report. Ensure that you have enough time to write a good quality design report.

Step 5: Submit a Design Report

At the end of the project, your team must submit a design report covering the following:

  • Description of the design
  • An explanation of how EACH TI analog chip or processor was used and how it chip benefited the design

All design reports should follow our Report Submission Guidelines which can be downloaded here.

All submitted design reports will be judged against the same criteria. View the Judging Criteria here.

Design reports must be submitted by the team leader to: adceurope@list.ti.com by 31st July.

Next Steps:

The contest involves two rounds of judging:

Round 1: Each design report will be judged exclusively by at least two competent Tiers. There will be twenty winning teams. First round winners will be notified by September 30th and each of these winning teams will be awarded a cash prize of US$ 1,000

Round 2: The top twenty winning teams from ‘Round 1’ will automatically proceed to the second level of judging. These top twenty teams will compete against each other to win the “Engibous Prize For Innovation In Analog” (Engibous Prize).

The design reports of the twenty winning teams from the first round will be judged by a panel of three independent judges: an eminent TIer, a university professor and a competent non-TI professional from the industry.

The Engibous Prize will be awarded as follows:

First place: US$ 10,000
Second place: US$ 5,000
Third place: US$ 2,500
Fourth place: US$ 2,500

The winners of the Engibous Prize will be notified by October 31st. A list of the winning teams, including their projects and presentations will be posted on the ADC Website.

All cash prizes are paid in US$ to the team leader of a winning team.

If your team is selected as a winner in either the first round or the Engibous prize we will need the banking details of the Team Leader in order for us to complete payments.
