Texas Instruments To Showcase Technologies For Emerging
Electronics Industries At Developer Conference (TIDC)
Markets and Technologies changing lives and lifestyles
Bangalore, November 27, 2006 – Texas Instruments, the
world leader in analog and signal processing technologies,
is at the forefront of the emerging semiconductor market and
ecosystem. Texas Instruments is hosting the 9th Texas Instruments
Developer Conference (TIDC) 2006 at the NIMHANS Convention
Centre in Bangalore on November 30th and December 1st to provide
a platform for collaboration across a wide range of technologies.
“The Semiconductor ecosystem in India has reached a stage
of maturity where design engineers are playing a key role in
designing for world and India markets. TIDC will help enable
the rapid transformation of ideas and innovation into ready-to-use
systems and solutions,” said Dr Biswadip (Bobby) Mitra, Managing
Director, Texas Instruments India.
Fuelled by the rapid changes in lifestyles and India’s emergence
as a major electronic equipment production and product design
destination, the market for products and technologies is growing
exponentially. TIDC will include a demonstration of new applications
across emerging hi-growth industries ranging from industrial
applications, communications, digital entertainment, medical
electronics and automotives. TIDC will also showcase the strength
of Texas Instruments’ customers and leading partners like Ittiam
and Sasken unveiling applications that demonstrate the capability
of TI’s analog and digital products.
“Texas Instruments envisions a world where every phone call,
Internet connection, photograph taken, song listened to is
touched by the power of our analog and signal processing technologies.
Events like TIDC help facilitate this process,” said Sham Banerji,
Head Software Development, Texas Instruments India.
Arun Jain, Director, Marketing and Sales, Texas Instruments
India, stated, “India as a market is finally positioned to
take off. We see exponential growth in the industrial, consumer
and wireless market. To support this growth, TI India is positioned
to play a larger role with strong local support, ease of buy
and a large portfolio of analog and signal processing solutions.”
The India electronic equipment consumption will grow to US$
363 billion by 2015. The total market for semiconductors in
India is expected to grow US$ 36 billion by 2015. A less spoken
about and yet very crucial market is the Analog market in India.
India’s total available market for Analog by 2010 is going
to be US$ 425 million with a CAGR of 27.4%. Currently, the
world leader in Analog solutions, TI’s Analog products represent
about 40 % of its semiconductor revenue.
Arun Jain further mentioned, “With the exponential growth
of digital electronics in India, Analog is going to take the
lead. “
Multimedia adoption in mobile telephony is growing in India.
Supporting this trend, Texas Instruments recently announced
the launch of eCosto, its new single-chip platform designed
to foster the development of lower-cost multimedia-rich feature
phones. With this, Texas Instruments continues to develop on
its single-chip technology roadmap, further supporting the
growth and adoption of wireless technology in emerging markets.
With video taking a larger role in various products, TIDC
will also showcase the first demonstration in India of TI silicon-based
high definition video conferencing, an emerging technology
that will help global organizations meet their collaboration
objectives. Hybrid Set Top Boxes with a huge market potential
will also be demonstrated at the event. TI’s recently launched
low cost DaVinci™ (DM643x) is a platform that is especially
made for such emerging markets.
In the area of medical electronics, TIDC will showcase the
emergence of cutting edge applications that enhance the quality
of life for people, while bringing down the cost of healthcare.
This includes medical scanners, noiseless dentist drills, as
well as a presentation on the world’s first thought-controlled "Bionic
Arm".
Running as a common theme through all the sessions at TIDC
is the Conference theme “See The Future, Create Your Own” appealing
to the entire semiconductor ecosystem to help create a future
driven by analog and signal processing technologies.
