Implementing autonomous USB Type-C power delivery for dual-role charging and sourcing

USB Type-C and power delivery (PD) provides a universal charging solution for battery-powered devices. However, the implementation of USB Type-C and PD charging often involves complicated hardware design and software development.  To simplify the process, this presentation will discuss how one can optimize the different USB Type-C and PD charging solutions given a particular application. Different Type-C and power-delivery solutions, ranging from USB C sink-only to high-power USB C PD Dual-Role-Power (DRP), will be demonstrated to meet various source and sink power requirements for different battery cell counts.
