6.3.11 Closed Loop Operation

The MCF8315D drives the motor using Field Oriented Control (FOC) as shown in Figure 6-40. In closed loop operation, the motor angle (Ɵest) and speed (SPEED_EST) are estimated using the back-EMF observer. The speed, power or current regulation is achieved using PI control loops.
