Power Supply Recommendations

These devices are designed to operate from a VCC input supply voltage range between 4.5 V and 5.5 V. Some devices have an output level shifting supply input, VIO, designed for a range between 3 V and 5.5 V. Both supply inputs must be well regulated. A bulk capacitance, typically 4.7 μF, should be placed near the CAN transceiver's main VCC supply output, and in addition a bypass capacitor, typically 0.1 μF, should be placed as close to the device VCC and VIO supply terminals. This helps to reduce supply voltaeg ripple present on the outputs of the switched-mode power supplies and also helps to compensate for the resistance and inductance of the PCB power planes and traces.
