Low power consumption
Our motor drivers with low ON resistance (RDSon) of the internal MOSFETs provide substantial output power to the motor without drawing excessive battery power. Low power sleep mode disables all unnecessary internal circuitry and puts the motor driver into a low current (as low as 35nA typical) stand-by state to ensure the longest life between battery recharges.
Traditional designs use external bulky shunt resistors for accurately measuring current and sending it back to the MCU. This takes up significant board space with added routing efforts and device costs. TI’s newest innovative motor drivers reduce system size, BOM and cost by leveraging innovative features like integrated current sensing, regulation and feedback and smart gate drive technology.
Without proper monitoring and control, damage, excessive current draw, or overheating can occur in motor systems. Our motor drivers not only provide standard protection features such as over temperature, over current, undervoltage and over voltage protection but they can also include more advanced features such as smart gate drive, offline fault detection, current regulation, automated dead time control, stall and open load detection. These features ensure that in the event something does go wrong with operating the motor, the driver will protect the system from harm.
