Joseph A. Crupi Named Executive Of The Year By The High Technology Council Of Maryland

CEO Recognized For Ability to Develop Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) Solutions Company

DALLAS (April 20, 2001) - Joseph A. Crupi, former chief executive officer and president of Germantown-based Telogy Networks, A Texas Instruments Company, was named Executive of the Year at the High Technology Council of Maryland's annual awards dinner on April 19th. Crupi was cited for his vision in leading Telogy Networks from a contract engineering and manufacturing company in 1996 to the leading provider of VoIP solutions for VoIP gateway, enterprise IP phone, remote access server (RAS), voice over cable modem, and voice over DSL (VoDSL) applications.

Telogy Networks was acquired by Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NYSE: TXN) in 1999, at which point Crupi continued to lead Telogy Networks as a wholly owned subsidiary of the Dallas-based semiconductor corporation. TI now commands 80 percent of the VoIP market. In January 2001, seeing the potential of the developing broadband communications market, TI promoted Crupi to vice president of its Broadband Communications Group. TI's broadband business includes exciting new technologies such as cable, DSL, wireless LAN, and VoIP.

"Mr. Crupi is a fine representative of the caliber of leadership and innovation that exists along Maryland's technology corridor," said Mitch Herbets, chair of the High Technology Council of Maryland's nominations committee. "Telogy Networks' growth has brought job opportunities and international recognition to our community."

"TI is very proud of Joe's achievements with Telogy," said Mike Hames, Senior Vice President, Applications Specific Products, Texas Instruments. "Joe's vision and leadership qualities will lead TI to further successes in the growing broadband communications market."
