Hybrid instrument cluster
Hybrid instrument cluster
Overview
Automotive instrument clusters have evolved from mechanical devices with an odometer and analog gauges to hybrid instrument clusters that feature fuel-efficiency readings, resettable trip odometers and oil life on their displays. Our integrated circuits, reference designs and products enable you to create solutions that not only meet modern cluster expectations, but exceed them with low-system standby current, low-power consumption, reliable data communication and the ability to sense LED failures and provide driver warnings.
Design requirements
Hybrid instrument cluster designs require:
- Implementation of driver notification functions such as audio amplifiers for driver warnings and light-emitting diode (LED) drivers for tell-tales.
- Balancing external machine interface (EMI) requirements with performance.
