Description for the MMWCAS-RF-EVM

The MMWCAS-RF evaluation module (EVM) is a sensing solution from TI implementing a four-device cascaded array of AWR1243 or AWR2243 devices. In this cascaded radar configuration, a single master device distributes a 20-GHz local-oscillator (LO) signal between all four devices, allowing these four devices to operate as a single RF transceiver. This enables support for up to 12 transmit (TX) and 16 receive (RX) antenna elements. In TX beamforming, beamsteering, and multiple-input, multiple-output/single-input, multiple-output (MIMO/SIMO) use cases, the larger number of antenna elements allows for higher signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and superior angular resolution compared to a single-device system.

MMWCAS-RF-EVM is supported by standard mmWave tools and software, including mmWave Studio (MMWAVE-STUDIO) and the mmWave device firmware package (MMWAVE-DFP).

MMWCAS-RF-EVM must be paired with the mmWave cascaded imaging radar DSP evaluation module (MMWCAS-DSP-EVM) (sold separately). MMWCAS-DSP-EVM provides radar data capture and storage capability.

For new designs using this board, only use AWR2243 part XA2243PBGABL.
