MSPWARE
MSP430Ware for MSP Microcontrollers
MSPWARE
Overview
MSP430Ware is a collection of resources that help users to effectively create and build MSP430 code. These resources support ALL MSP430 microcontrollers (MCUs). As one user mentioned, “It’s essentially everything developers need to become MSP430 microcontroller experts!”
This complete collection of design resources includes a wide selection of highly abstracted software libraries – ranging from device and peripheral-specific libraries such as MSP430 Driver Library or USB, to application-specific libraries such as the Graphics and capacitive touch libraries. In particular, the MSP430 Driver Library is an essential library to help software developers leverage convenient APIs to control low-level and intricate hardware peripherals, making the resulting code much easier to read and maintain. As of today, MSP Driver Library supports all but the earliest series devices.
MSP430Ware is available as a component of Code Composer Studio™ IDE desktop and cloud versions, or as a standalone package. When used as a component of Code Composer Studio or in-the-cloud, the MSP430Ware package can be navigated through a sleek GUI within the TI Resource Explorer window.
How do I get MSP430Ware?
MSP430Ware is provided in three ways:
1. MSP430Ware in the Cloud – MSP430Ware is hosted on the TI Resource Explorer Cloud site. You can access the content from TI’s Cloud Tools site (https://dev.ti.com/) or directly from https://dev.ti.com/tirex
2. You’ll find the latest version of MSP430Ware inside of Code Composer Studio v6.20 (and later) when opening the View → Resource Explorer menu. Starting with CCSv6.20, TI’s Resource Explorer automatically pulls the latest information from MSP430Ware in the Cloud. Using Resource Explorer, users can localize (i.e. download) only the parts of MSP430Ware that are necessary, thus saving valuable disk space. (Note that you need an internet connection to view and localize content; although an internet connection is not required once the necessary components have been downloaded to your computer.)
3. MSP430Ware can also be downloaded to your Windows, Mac, or Linux desktop computer. The installer creates a folder on your computer containing the full content found in MSP430Ware. (Note that this method is required for versions of Code Composer Studio prior to version 6.20, as earlier versions of Resource Explorer do not contain the new, online features.)
