12VDC Input, 6A White LED Driver With PWM Dimming

This reference design drives a single white LED at 6A or 3A from a 12Vdc input. The TPS40190 controls a synchronous buck power stage with over 92 percent efficiency. The LED current can be toggled between two levels (3A and 6A) through a simple logic signal. The LED can also be PWM-dimmed through an external clock signal. An enable signal is also provided.
