RS485 (Isolated, Non-isolated) is a popular interface for the Grid Infrastructure space, and is one of the most important options on newly designed equipment. TIDA-00308 will enable customers to quickly evaluate and design with TI RS485 devices for 3 different application scenarios, with an isolated power supply provided in this design. Additionally, test results in the user’s guide will demonstrate the IEC61000-4-2 ESD and IEC61000-4-5 surge tests performed on this design.

  • One design demonstrates three RS485 application scenarios
  • Two isolated power are provided, 5V and 3.3V
  • RS485 transmit and receive status are indicated by LED
  • Same design is compatible to multiple TI isolation devices to meet different application needs
  • Designed for IEC-61000 compliance
    • IEC-61000-4-2: ESD up to 4KV contact
    • IEC-61000-4-5: Surge up to ±1KV
