The TIDA-00972 reference design provides a sensor module level solution for +/- 2% of accuracy and reliable Relative Humidity (RH) and +/- 0.2 °C accuracy temperature sensing. The sensor module utilizes TI’s digital humidity and temperature sensor HDC1080 together with integrated communication bus buffer TCA9517 to provide high accuracy sensing result with robust communication over meters of wiring distance.

The reference design addresses the key considerations during development and manufacturing of the sensor module with test results.

  • Relative humidity accuracy ±2%, temperature accuracy ±0.2°C
  • Small form factor of PCB size 15.7 mm x 7.6 mm
  • Very low power consumption during operation and when idle: 1.2uA without I2C buffer. Supply cut during idle.
  • Supports long-cable I2C communication over common wire (AWG24 with 2 meter length)
  • Supports both 5V and 3.3V power supply
