Thank you all for participating in the TIMDC2014. We hope all teams worked hard, learned lots and had FUN. We had a tough time short-listing the entries for the next round as all the projects were unique and competent. After multiple rounds of deliberation, we have chosen the following 8 finalists for TIMDC2014.

Voice controlled wheelchair with robotic Arm

The aim of our project is to construct a voice controlled wheel chair with Robotic Arm which is completely engaged by speech commands. Our mechanization is centered on a pre programmable speech recognition module to identify the speech commands and a Microcontroller to execute the commands.

Designing and implementation of Pressure control system for Brace Treatment of Scoliosis

By making use of 3 point concept we have developed a system named as Design of pressure control and regulation system using Brace treatment for Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis, in order to overcome the drawbacks present in conventional bracing treatment. Basic treatment is based on pressure exertion and regulation. Pressure is exerted on certain points of the body in order to prevent Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis.

Current parking systems for large spaces have dependency on parking staff and have no provisions for energy saving. Our system will reduce human assistance to a minimum and provide cost cutting by intelligent lighting solution. This will also help in energy conservation.

Economy of a developing country is powered by agriculture and irrigation is an important factor. Design of solar powered irrigation system can be installed in fields to enable effective control and monitoring of crop from remote location using sensors, pumping station and control systems.

PLC and WiFi based home automation solution

The Scope of ‘nLightning’ is to provide affordable and easy to install Home Automation solution with minimum rework and installation time. State of the art PLC is used to achieve this using existing media(power lines) for a safe and continuous communications channel and can be remotely accessed from anywhere in the world using a standard Wi-Fi internet connection and an Android mobile phone.

Electric Vehicle Regenerative braking system with super capacitor and BLDC motor

Here is an electric vehicle regenerative braking system with super capacitors . It stores the braking energy to the battery by storing high current electrical energy to the super capacitor rapidly and transfers the same to the battery slowly.

The USB Flash drive that we use apart from the fact that it is highly compact and indispensable for daily computer works; it is also the biggest media for data leakage. By integrating cloud with a USB Storage device we can provide a robust level of security than the conventional USB Storage added with some other advantages.

MSP430 based ether-smart remote control system with automatic/manual controlling of remote electronic / electrical appliances over internet

This system makes use of Internet connection to remote control and monitor electronic or electrical appliances remotely using a smart phone / a PC that has an Internet connection. The heart of the whole system is TI's MSP430 MCU which is used to read TCP/IP packets from the Internet connection and process the incoming data.
