The TMUX722x device can be operated without any external components except for the supply decoupling capacitors. All inputs signals passing through the switch must fall within the recommend operating conditions of the TMUX722x including signal range and continuous current. For this design example, with a supply of +15 V and -15 V, the signals can range from +15 V to -15 V when the device is powered.
The application shown in Switching Gain Settings demonstrates how to use the TMUX722x to control the feedback gain of a precision op-amp. This feedback design can very sensitive to induced voltage and current offsets. The TMUX722x has a typical On-leakage current of 100 pA which would lead to an accuracy well within 1% of a full scale 1 µA signal, thus minimizing errors from current offsets. The low On-Resistance of the TMUX722x leads to a low error in the feedback resistance and resulting gain, and also minimizes any voltage offsets.
