Introduction

The ADS8686S is a 16-channel, 16-bit, 1-MSPS, dual simultaneous-sampling, successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with an integrated analog front-end (AFE) for single-ended, bipolar inputs up to ±12-V range with an overrange configuration. The integrated AFE with 1-MΩ input impedance eliminates requirements for an external ADC driver. These characteristics makes this ADC suitable for industrial automation applications including grid infrastructure and analog input modules. Figure 1-1 illustrates the ADS8686S EMC test board.
