Optical Modules for Optical Networking Solutions

Optical networking is a broad field covering all the various uses of optical fiber to transmit information. Optical networking is the management hardware and software of the fiber optic communication infrastructure. This includes everything from high bandwidth fibre channel between metro areas over 100Gbps to Fiber To The Home/Curb/Building (FTTx) at 1 Gbps . Semiconductors is present in every situation where the optical network delivers data and help to accomplish this by providing a point of diagnostic information and replacement upon failure in the optical modules.

Optical modules are the small interfaces that connect the fiber to the traditional copper network, data center, repeater module and most of the end points in optical networks. Their main function is to monitor the traffic over every cable, diagnose failures, and maintain the integrity of the transmission according to industry standards like SFF 8472.

Types of Optical Modules:

  • SFP Transceiver
  • SFP+ Transceiver
  • XFP Module
  • CFP
  • X2/XENPAK Module
