This is a reference design of an ultra-wide input range (20.4 Vac to 276 Vac) AC-DC Buck converter. Using the UCC28881 controller, we only need minimum number of discrete components as main switch and high voltage startup circuits (with low quiescent current needed) are already integrated in the controller. To allow sufficient supply current to the UCC28881 controller, a depletion MOSFET circuit is added as a low power dissipation current source. This design is able to provide 12 V/50 mA output.

  • Ultra-wide input voltage range from 20.4 Vac to 276 Vac
  • Low cost PCB layout design using a single-layer-PCB
  • Less than 15 degree Celsius temperature rise on all circuit components
  • FET integrated controller provides minimum discrete component need
