Non-contact patient and elderly monitoring with mmWave radar [webinar]

00:30:27 | 08 NOV. 2021

In 2019, the number of people aged 65 years or older hit 700 million, and is projected to double to 1.5 billion by 2050. With this increase comes a desire to “age in place” in the home and without the constant attention of a caretaker. To help cope with this demand, more and more technology is being driven into assisted living and at-home care.

mmWave radar sensing is a new technology that is being used for non-contact measurement in patient and elderly care including for fall detection and vital signs monitoring. It’s robust and non-privacy-invasive qualities make it a unique and attractive sensing modality for applications in the home, hospital, and in assisted care.

  • Why non-privacy-invasive qualities are so important in different sensing applications
  • How mmWave can benefit applications such as occupancy detection, contactless fall detection, and vital signs monitoring
  • What design challenges engineers are facing when implementing sensing technology to keep people comfortable at home
