Discrete, Two-Op-Amp Instrumentation Amplifier

Figure 8-5 shows the OPA2206 configured as a two op amp, discrete instrumentation amplifier. This configuration allows for a differential signal measurement, such as the signal from a load cell, with higher input impedance to the signal chain than most monolithic instrumentation amplifiers. Additionally, the input overvoltage protection of the OPA2206 protects the signal chain from being damaged by fault conditions where the input signal exceeds the supply voltage of the amplifier.
