The purpose of the discharge function is to make sure of a defined down-ramp of the output voltage when the device is being disabled and to keep the output voltage close to 0 V when the device is off. The output discharge feature is only active after the TPS62850x-Q1 have been enabled at least once since the supply voltage was applied. The discharge function is enabled as soon as the device is disabled, in thermal shutdown, or in undervoltage lockout. The minimum supply voltage required for the discharge function to remain active typically is 2 V. Output discharge is not activated during a current limit or foldback current limit event. When supply voltage is applied but the device had not been enabled yet, the discharge function is undefined. For applications where the output voltage discharge has to be off after supply voltage is applied and the enable pin is still at low level, use the versions that are stated as Output discharge disconnected in the Device Comparison table.
