Input Voltage Protection (IVP)

Under certain operating conditions, current can flow from the output of the device to the input. For example, this kind of current flow from the output to the input can occur during dynamic voltage scaling when the output ramps down to a lower voltage and the VOUT pin sinks current from the output capacitor. Under such conditions, if the voltage source supplying the device cannot sink current, the voltage on the VIN pin can rise uncontrollably.

To make sure the input voltage stays within the permitted range, the device stops switching if the voltage on the VIN pin is greater than 5.75V. The device automatically starts to switch again when the voltage on the VIN pin is less than 5.65V.
