Power Supplies

By default, the TSWDC155EVM provides the ADS9227EVM with a 3.3V supply ("3P3V"). The ADS9227EVM has a TPS61033 boost converter which increases the 3.3V supply to 5.5V. The 5.5V supply is applied to the input of two independent low-dropout regulators (LDOs) to derive the required analog and digital supplies for the ADS9227 when JP11 is in the [1-2] position. U5 (TPS7A2050) outputs 5V, which is used for the AVDD_5V supply. U6 (TPS7A2018) outputs 1.8V, which is shared between the AVDD_1V8 and DVDD_1V8 supplies.

The LDO input voltage (LDO_IN) can be changed to an external source ranging from 5.2V to 5.5V by configuring the shunt on JP11 in the [2-3] position and connecting the external supply to terminal block J9. In this setup, U7 (LM66100) provides reverse polarity protection in the event that the connection is wired incorrectly.

The PGA855 operates over a wide single-supply range of 8V to 36V or dual-supply range of ±4V to ±18V. The positive and negative supply rails for the PGA855 (VS+ and VS-) must be provided from an external bench supply and connected to terminal block J3 on the ADS9227EVM.

Figure 3-5 shows the power tree schematic for the ADS9227EVM.
