Host and Target Kernels

A custom OpenVX kernel consists of two software components.

The Host Kernel executes during graph creation and verification. Its primary responsibilities include defining the kernel interface, validating node parameters, configuring output metadata, and registering the kernel with the OpenVX framework. Since the Host Kernel is involved only during graph construction, it does not contain the processing algorithm itself. The Target Kernel executes when the graph is scheduled. It implements the processing algorithm, accesses input and output data objects, and performs the required computation on the assigned core. Depending on the application, Target Kernels can execute on various processing cores supported by TIOVX.
