The amplifier section in automotive audio systems is rapidly changing, both in the head unit and in external amplifiers for premium systems. Increasing numbers of audio channels and requirements for higher power delivered to the speakers can lead to increased heat and space, even in entry-level entertainment systems. This session will give an overview of system trends and discuss how TI Class D amplifiers, such as TPA6304-Q1, are addressing Class AB cost and inefficiency while reducing the space required in comparison to competing class D designs.
