The Active Clamp Flyback: Part 1

This video introduces the fundamental of active clamp flyback topology, and studies the impact of nonlinear capacitance of switching devices on the performance. The design tradeoff and efficiency effect with different nonlinearity of junction capacitance from both primary-side and secondary-side switch devices are investigated, and then proper control strategies to overcome the capacitance nonlinearity are discussed.
