Actiontec/TI deliver first nationwide retail USB DSL modem
Consumers will now be able to visit a retail location, purchase a self-installable USB modem and connect with their local service provider for high-speed Internet access through their phone line.

Complete with a self-installation kit leveraging TI’s configuration software, the TI DSP-based Actiontec Home DSL Modem includes everything a user would need to easily install DSL by themselves.

Actiontec uses TI’s PCI and USB chipsets. Both chipsets support 8 Mbps full-rate 1.5 Mbps G.lite operation. With the smallest form factor available, consumers can purchase either a PCI card for their PC or an external device with a USB modem. Both are fully programmable, enabling the user to simply download new upgrades or applications as they become available.
