Overview

An e-Latch, or electronic latch is a door system that replaces traditional hardware mechanisms with electronically controlled actuators, simplifying the mechanical design and offering a more convenient, quieter, and seamless user experience.

Design requirements

  • Motor drivers for electrically-driven lock and latch actuators
  • Network connection, typically LIN or CAN communicates with the vehicle and driver
  • Local energy storage in case power is lost in a collision
