Overview

Our integrated circuits and reference designs help you create a smaller, smarter and more efficient set-top box (STB) and digital video recorder (DVR) system that receives and converts digital television (TV) signals from terrestrial, cable, or satellite sources for output/playback to high definition (HD) and ultra-high definition (UHD) TVs.

Design requirements:

Modern STB and DVR designs often require:

  • More efficient power management with ultra-low standby.
  • Smaller, robust systems for reliable long-term usage.
  • Scalability to adapt to new high-bandwidth technology while maintaining backwards compatibility with older TVs.
  • Additional functionality to play a larger role in the new "smart" home entertainment and automation ecosystem.
