Overview

MSP432Ware is a collection of user’s guides, code examples, training, and other design resources for MSP432™ microcontrollers (MCUs) delivered in a convenient package - essentially everything developers need to become MSP432 microcontroller experts! In addition to providing a complete collection of existing MSP432 MCU design resources, MSP432Ware also provides a wide selection of highly abstracted software libraries ranging from device and peripheral-specific such as MSP Driver Library, to application-specific such as Graphics Library or Speech Recognizer. MSP432 Driver Library in particular is an essential library to help software developers leverage high-level APIs to control low-level and intricate hardware peripherals.

How do I get MSP432Ware? MSP432Ware is available as a component of Code Composer Studio™ IDE desktop and cloud versions, or as a standalone package. When delivered as a component of Code Composer Studio, the MSP432Ware package can be navigated through a sleek GUI within the TI Resource Explorer window in Code Composer Studio.

  • To get MSP432Ware and GUI-based front end, simply install the latest version of Code Composer Studio IDE.
  • Alternatively, MSP432Ware is available as a standalone zip package. However, this will only provide the folder structure of the MSP432Ware package, and will not have a GUI-based front end. Click the "Get Software" link above to get MSP432Ware as a standalone package.
    • Note: When downloading, customers will be required to fill out an export compliance form.
  • MSP432Ware is now also available inside the new TI Cloud Resource Explorer. Users can navigate and access all of MSP432Ware content without having to download the entire MSP432Ware package.

Install/Upgrade

There are two methods to install MSP432Ware:

Installing via the Code Composer Studio (CCS) App Center

If you have CCS 6.0 or later you can install MSP432Ware via the CCS App Center.

  • Open up CCS
  • Click "View->CCS App Center"
  • Click the checkbox next to MSP432Ware
  • Then click "Install Software" in the top left corner of the app center.
  • Let CCS restart and discover the software. You can now use TI Resource Explorer within CCS

    • Installing via the Standalone Installer

    If CCS is not your primary IDE or want an offline installer on hand you can download the standalone installer.

  • Download the standalone installer from the table below.
  • Double click to run the installer, the default installation path is discoverable by CCS
  • Run CCS and let it discover the MSP432Ware installation. You can now use TI Resource Explorer within CCS.

    What is the difference between MSP432Ware and Driver Library?

    MSP432Ware is a collection of MSP430 and MSP432 software and tools. One of the main components of MSP432Ware is Driver Library (DriverLib).

    Why are there multiple driverlib folders within MSP432Ware?

    MSP432Ware contains many different software libraries and projects. Some of these components depend on a specific version of Driver Library. Each component ships the version of Driver Library they tested with to ensure that all software works for you out of the box.

    Can I have multiple versions of MSP432Ware installed?

    Yes! MSP432Ware installations can exist alongside each other. You should only see the latest installed version within the TI Resource Explorer window of Code Composer Studio however.
