12Vin, -5V Output Inverting Buck Boost using Synchronous Step Down Converter Reference Design

The TPS54335 provides a single IC for both control and the power stage for DC/DC applications up to 3A. PMP20566 utilizes the TPS54335 in an inverting buck boost topology to implement a regulated -5V, rail. TPS54335 enables the designer to implement power solutions which require negative voltages with low BOM count and small solution size.

  • Inverting buck-boost topology using synchronous, step-down converter
  • Internal MOSFETs allows for reduced BOM count and smaller solution size
  • Current mode control with external COMP pin enables greater design flexibility
  • Pulse skipping to maximize efficiency in light load conditions
