Overview

This reference design provides an isolated, 28V/3A output from a standard telecom 36V to 72V input at >88% efficency. The LM5020-1 is a PWM controller with wide input voltage range allowing the converter to be powered directly from the input line and eliminating the need for an auxilliary transformer winding. Output voltage regulation is based on current mode control, simplifying loop compensation. LM5020-1 is capable of supporting duty cycles up to 80% using internal slope compensation allowing the controller to support a wide range of power configurations.
