5 V-Output, 4000-V Isolated Power Supply Reference Design for RS485 Applications

This reference design showcases a 5-V output, 4000-V isolated Flyback DC/DC converter for RS485 applications. Using the boost converter TPS61046, the circuit supports wide input voltage range and up to 250mA output current with 78% efficiency from a 10-V input. The reference design uses an adaptive dummy load circuit to improve the load regulation of the primary side regulation solution for cost effective applications. It also introduces the secondary side regulation solution aiming at the high VOUT accuracy applications.
