This reference design demonstrates how to implement redundant (parallel) CAN for functional safety at the physical layer. It includes two SN65HVD257 CAN transceivers and additional logic to ensure both transceivers are receiving the same data.

  • Short propagation delays and fast loop times
  • FAULT output pin
  • I/O voltage range supports 3.3V and 5V MCU's
  • TXD and RXD dominant time out
  • HBM ESD protection exceeds 12kV
  • This reference design is orderable

A fully assembled board has been developed for testing and performance validation only, and is not available for sale.
