This TI Design uses the THS3491 high-speed, high-voltage current feedback amplifier to demonstrate an output current drive capability of greater than 1 A into a low resistive or high capacitive load while maintaining a large signal bandwidth of 100 MHz at 20 VPP. The high output current drive is achieved by using two or more THS3491 amplifiers in load sharing configuration to optimize large-signal bandwidth and distortion performance. The THS3491 device enables high capacitive load applications because of the 900-MHz BW and ±420 mA of linear output current drive capability. The design utilizes the VQFN-16 (RGT) package due to the best large signal bandwidth, low distortion, and optimal thermal performance.

  • Output Current Drive ≥ 1 A
  • High Capacitive Load Drive of 100 - 1000 pF
  • 20 Vpp Output Voltage Swing at 100 MHz, RL = 20 Ω
  • 20 Vpp Output Voltage Swing at 30 MHz, RS = 20 Ω and CL = 1 nF
  • Large Signal Bandwidth > 100 MHz
  • Flexibility for Output Current Drive (2, 3 or 4 Parallel Amplifiers)
