This power overview presentation introduces three popular power converter circuits: the linear regulator, the buck converter and the boost converter. Common applications for each topology are included as well as a compare and contrast of linear versus switching regulators. Several slides discuss the duty-cycle derivation of the buck and boost converter’s duty cycle. Non-synchronous, synchronous and multiphase orientations are also defined.
