Systems Made Simple Part 3: Isolation in Solar Inverters

00:04:54 | 18 DEC 2015

When it comes to power paths in solar inverters, we see three key trends:

  • Higher power inverters are moving towards higher bus voltages to deliver higher power at the same amperage
  • Reducing transition times in the DC-AC switching stage to shorten the time IGBTs are in high impedance
  • Increasing PWM switching frequency in the DC-AC stage to reduce the size and cost of magnetics

Given these trends, learn the top three parameters to consider when picking an isolator for a solar inverter design.
