Automotive USB protection customer design challenges

00:05:23 | 15 APR 2017
Originally, USB was developed as a consumer interface. With the proliferation of this interface into automotive applications mainly driven by the consumer world, designers are left with very unique and complex automotive challenges. One of them is the need to protect USB lines against shorts to the vehicle battery. During assembly or maintenance, long wire harness that connects the head unit to different connectivity modules in the car can be damaged and short all pins to the car battery.
