Isolation in Industrial Robot Systems

00:23:29 | 03 APR 2023

In 2019 more than 2.5 million industrial robots will be in operation worldwide, according to a forecast of the international federation of robotics. An industrial robot consists of a control cabinet, a robot arm and a Human Machine Interface (HMI) panel. To help ensure safe operation of the complete robot system, the different robot components and interfaces need to be isolated to each other. To better understand isolation for industrial robots, this training explains:

  • Why isolation is needed
  • Different isolation levels
  • What challenges need to be solved when two systems need to be isolated from each other
