Making power supplies smaller: An overview of the active clamp flyback chipset

00:24:28 | 17 APR 2018

There is a continued need to make AC/DC and isolated DC/DC power supplies smaller and more efficient. Key applications include mobile, tablet, and notebook USB-PD adapters and chargers, as well as USB wall outlets, server aux supplies, and open-frame industrial power supplies. This training will cover TI’s new Active Clamp Flyback controller UCC28780 and High-Frequency Synchronous Rectifier controller UCC24612 and showcase how they are improving power density by over 2x the best-in-class solutions today.

In this training you will:

  • Become familiar with industry trends in the AC/DC charger and adapter markets
  • Understand what a USB-PD AC/DC adapter system looks like
  • Learn the basics of the Active Clamp Flyback topology
  • Witness how an Active Clamp Flyback with Synchronous Rectification works to achieve high power density
