Understanding Power Demotion in TI's IEEE802.3bt Powered Devices (PD)

The number of class cycles generated by the PSE, prior to turn on, indicates to the PD the power allocated by the PSE. In some cases the allocated power is less than what the PD requested. This is called “power demotion” in the IEEE 802.3bt standard. This training will discuss power demotion events and how the TPS2372 and TPS2373 respond in these cases.
